Cliff returned from CA last night, after attending Meg's high school graduation, celebrating with Ben his 25th birthday, driving to Morgan Hill to hear Kyle and Spencer's band, hearing Scott's band at their church, driving to Auburn to visit with Dorothy and Elias, and June and Mort, and then driving back to the Sacramento airport so he could fly home.
He has a couple of full days here in preparation for moving into the apartment in Buffalo so he can begin as Priest in Charge on June 15th. I don't know how much he will move there, as he will be home half of each week. His plans are to be in Buffalo from Saturday night until Wednesday about noon. He will take his 'stuff' on Friday so he can get some help to unload the trailer he will rent, after having help here at home on Thursday morning.
Friday I will take Duke to the kennel in Spearfish and then on to Rapid City so I can fly to Bellevue, WA to attend Kelsey's high school graduation. I won't have the travelling around to visit other people like Cliff, and that is fine with me. I am hoping to get in some good visiting time with Susan and Peter, Kelsey and Gregory. Maybe there will be a game to attend.
With the graduations only a week apart, it was prudent for us to 'divide and conquer', since we couldn't afford the time or the money for both of us to go to both graduations.

Oh my goodness - what a difference a day makes -
Yesterday, May 10, I found out that a well beloved doctor in the community died. She was an Episcopalian, though not active recently. I talked with her ex-husband, Ernie, and it was an interesting conversation. He would be okay with having her service through Good Shepherd, but advised me that their daughter, Laura, is very adamant against religion and this would affect whatever plans would be made. He was soon to drive to Laramie to get Laura.
When I looked at my planner, I found that this is the weekend of our Bishop Search Committee retreat, and Cliff offered his help and support in any way needed. This morning, Ernie called to say that Laura continues to be against any church service - 'she doesn't want any priest who doesn't know Mom to get up and say something about her'. I told Ernie that this is definitely okay with me - to honor Laura's wishes. I also told him that Cliff and I are available to him, however he would need us. I told him, as well, that Damon is most helpful.
Ernie shared that as the ex-husband, he has no legal standing during this time - I said his 'job' right now is the standing he has with the 'kids' as their father. There is a woman, Karla, who has been a dear friend of Jeri's, and she has somewhat taken over and has said that plans will be made tonight when both Laura and Ethan are home - and that Ernie is welcome to be there. He feels that he won't be welcome to make many suggestions - if any at all.
The family is in my prayers.

Computers ---
Not only did the internet not work this morning for awhile, but now I am not getting into the church blog website. Of course, I will admit - it probably isn't the computer but the computer operator. I finally rememembered to unplus the 'box' for 30 seconds or so - and voila - the internet appeared. Now, if I could only remember what it is that I do to find the church blog and correct church gmail account ---

There is a first time for everything
After working with a blog for the church, goodshepherdwysundance.blogspot.com, I decided to also try for a personal blog. How often and how much I add will remain to be seen. Best to any and all who read this.
